Carlisle Custom Compact Power Jam

We arrived to find that despite having 30 registrants for SPOC, we had enough room for only 8 cars! Needless to say, we were not particularly happy.

So we backed the cars up as far as we could, creating what would become a second row once more cars arrived.

The end result was a back row of sedans and a front row of coupes. It's almost like we planned it that way!

All the coupes except for Locutus, my 95 SC2. Due to the acquisition of my 96 SL2, I had demodified the coupe to trade in, only to find that I wasn't going to get enough money for it. So I kept the coupe, bought the sedan, and was stuck with two stock Saturns at the time of the show. So I rode with Brian, and brought this photo of Locutus in his prime, slicing through the Esses at New Hampshire International Speedway last October.

Though Brian and I briefly owned the "farthest travelled" award, that soon went to John McQuay of saturnspeed.com and SPOC of Indiana! He brought his 95 SC2 despite recent battle damage (I shot the good side). His prototype Thermal R&D exhaust sounds great, more like a muscle car than a 4-banger - especially with his custom Gude cams under the hood!

GM brought their Pontiac Piranha concept car/SUV, as well as a Saturn SC-T, featuring unique rims, badging, and paint. Unfortunately, the hood was closed, so we were unable to see if there was really a turbo under the hood or not.

The tailgate says it all, and though there were some very nicely done cars there (yes, some tasteful Hondas, too) there was plenty of rice as well. One of the high points of the weekend was piling as many people as we could into Richard Askren's SL and driving straight through the Honda and Acura areas cranking Got Rice. I'm surprised nobody tried to beat us up!

And this was just insane. See that long scrape on the pavement? That wasn't there before - it was caused by the lowrider truck going by, scraping its frame on the ground! Notice how everyone's looking at him funny. He probably thinks he's pretty cool because of this.

Well here's something really cool...
