Garage Day at Justin's Place

June 23, 2001

With a new house, Justin was finally able to hold a garage day of his own! And so he did. Numerous projects were undertaken:

  • Justin's trailer wiring fixed (it's for his Miata, but it COULD be for a Saturn)

  • Dynomax muffler installed on Justin's SL2

  • Troubleshooting on a funny noise on Brian's SL2

  • Spring install on Shawn's SW2

  • Lock repair on Scott's SL2

  • Black badge install on Scott's SL2

  • DRLs disabled on Matt's SL2

  • Oil change on Bill's SL2

  • Tire rotation and speed bleeders installed on Cris' SC2

  • SPOC NE decals applied to numerous cars

  • A killer cookout, with burgers, chicken, deer steaks, and (of course) BEER!!!

Here are some photos Chris Fox took from the day:

it hasn't appeared anywhere on the web before.

installed Intrax springs. Looks great!

Interesting things to note:

  • The muffler bracket for a Chevy Cavalier is an excellent substitute for the Saturn bracket when installing a smaller aftermarket muffler. It mounts exactly the same way as the Saturn bracket, but the Cav's stock muffler is much smaller. Very minor modification - some bends and a couple of new holes in the strap - was required to clamp Justin's Dynomax Super Turbo muffler down tightly on his SL2.

  • You are required to yell very loudly for maximum testosterone value while cutting off a stock muffler with a Sawzall.

  • Speed bleeders are very cool. They work even better when you tighten them up all the way BEFORE driving off.

  • Deer steaks are good.

  • A 12-pack of beer is not enough to keep this crowd happy all day.

  • An SW2 looks VERY good lowered.

  • All the work we did can be finished BEFORE it starts raining.

  • On the way out Route 2 afterward, Scott and Justin showed an Integra and Civic that resistance is futile, while Bill hung back and watched the fun. :)

Though the first garage day at Justin's place, it certainly won't be the last.
